Today we hear the story of what happens to John the Baptist.  A very wrong treatment for a ‘right” man.  This comes as a consequence of  deception, political power wrongly used, paranoid authority figures, sexual promiscuity, drunkenness and envy.  Can our open-hearted, kind God ever have affection for people like that? … including us?  May the knowledge of his love enable us to come to a place of repentance.  Repentance that leads us to life.
